If I use the search criteria of:

  • "What is the single most important economic theory?"
  • "What are the two (three, four, etc.) most important economic theories?"

... let us notice the absence of most enumerated references, leaving us with a scarce representation of those groupings which may be used by one or another instructor, economist or entrepreneur. In other words, we do not find economic theories espousing a usage of multiple theories in the sense we find theories reflecting many, most, or all numerical values (which extended into multiple tens, hundreds, thousands, etc.). Whereas we can find someone who claims a single idea as the most important and another person may claim there are two important ideas and still another who may say there are three, four, five, six, seven, (etc.,) most important ideas; there is an overall limit of the ideas to be listed. The so called "most important" economic ideas do not portray large numerical values.

Simply put, the list is very small. It is conserved, despite whatever rationale one might offer as a reason or excuse for such a circumstance. We do not have anyone claiming there are fifty or one hundred, (etc.), most important economic ideas. Like so many other subjects, we humans strive to minimize, reduce, constrain, and otherwise simplify. We have somehow come to convince ourselves to think that this is an expression of intelligence and not as an adaptive form of survival developed by the underlying requirements when experiencing long term events of incremental environmental deterioration. Whereas we see and effect of conservation expressed in smaller glaciers and a small land surface due to global warming, human behaviors of conservation do not merit an investigation as an effect of environmental events such as over-population and its effects on the reduction (conservation) of resources in terms of repercussions on the behavior called ideological development and usage. Ideas themselves become representative illustrations of conservation effected by deteriorating environmental events. In effect, they become expressed survival mechanisms to be equated with rationalization. All ideas, in and out of economics are different expressions of rationalization that have not "stepped up their game" to include all ideas as products to be included as variables in economic considerations. All too often analysts get caught up in the minutia of a given idea and do not maintain an objectivity that they are dealing with a variable for an equation they are attempting to visualize and assert.

This act of conservation is taking place in all subjects. It is a recurring profile of human brain activity subjected to the survival requirements of a planet and planetary system that is undergoing an incremental deterioration which is subjecting humanity to the requirement of adapting to the deteriorations as a survival effort. A survival that is geared for a short-term profit like an ancient leader stealing from the state granaries to feed their personal lusts for luxury, games, monuments, or for carrying out personal vendettas.

The situation is like a large raft where the wealthy people congregate in the middle and do not see, nor feel, nor experience— at any actual first hand measure— an overall incremental deterioration which the raft's edges provide the earliest indications of which people living on the non-wealthy "fringes" of society are echoing in unison about the rotting destruction of. No amount of face-lifting, white-washing infrastructure support from any legislature can stay the ongoing drum-beats of its ultimate death march. The wealthy in the middle are insulated from witnessing the incremental deteriorations being acutely felt by more and more throughout the world; and yet the wealthy may only scream bloody murder about if something occurs to increase a loss of their accustomed-to insulated lifestyle... if not eventually finding refuge in a spacecraft built by them for them and those who serve them. This will be the reason for continuing an effort to develop a space tourism entertainment segment, whereby some future tourists get marooned on a planet inhabited by those who are as ignorant as most people are... and need to be in order to put up with all the nonsense created by main-stream businesses, governments and religions, as well as their would-be illegal or pseudo-pagan oriented counter-parts.

One view of the raft humanity is on

We do not have everyone writing or speaking about which economic idea or groups of ideas they work off of for their specific day-to-day interests. There is at present, no way we can tap into everyone's mind and know their thoughts. This too is a limitation, though some would claim that to do otherwise would be a violation of personal freedom, personal consciousness and one's personal me- myself and I trinity. However, we can view the types of economic ideas (for example) by resorting to the biological reference of symbiosis, of which some people say there are three, others say four, others claim five and still others say there are six types. One must wonder why we don't have a dominant seven list since the number seven is said to be the favorite of so many people. Nor do we have ten, twenty, fifty or larger quantity. likewise, let us make reference to the fact that the list is an expressed conservation, whether described as a cognitive limit owing to some human mental deficiency or some unrealized conservation activity taking place in nature with a reason that is all too often neither seen nor conversed about. It is important to note that the word symbiosis is sometimes referred to as a relationship between (at least) two different types of animals or life forms (and not some internalized relationship occurring in an individual); suggesting that we might want to view either economics or those who wield economics as a weapon, tool, or culinary instrument as different types of creatures than others of their presumed species are.

However, before providing a list of listings, the foregoing comment about a person experiencing some type of symbiotic relationship within themselves is not so unreasonable an idea to consider a bit further, since a person does not always have a rewarding relationship between their mind and heart. Or that their organs or other body systems do not always have a good relationship, just as the idea about multiple gods in the past having had interactive problems with one another. In this respect, organs can be described as different organisms which do not always "play nice" with one another, yet are viewed as a whole and not as independent features existing... or trying to exist in one body. Since one's body is a hybrid of functionalities and even cells are a hybrid of different organelles, it should be considered that just because they occur routinely together does not mean this is best for cells or a person's body. Nature, by way of genetics, has established a routine of development even though other combinations of organelles, of cells, of organs, etc., may be better. Both bad and good people will rush to the same place as a refuge in the face of a similar foe, and we humans will... at least momentarily... set aside any disparaging references so long as all those in a given situation are being similarly attacked. Much like a zombie horde or extra-terrestrial encroachment; all those being attacked will be viewed as compatriots sharing in a similar goal. After the attack(s) however, divisions, disagreements and increased instances of distancing begin. While some manage to work out a routine of wellness in their lives, we all know that the routine is short lived... that is, the length of a person's life time defines how well a person's body ingredients were suited to one another under a given era of circumstances. While we say that a person's genetics is a key point in considering how someone can live a long time, we do not really know to what degree each cell, each organelle, each organ... presented with a given environment (weather, food, water, etc...), is most useful and universally applicable. We humans of today do not know how to measure and keep tabs on every aspect of every atom, molecule, cell, organ, etc., in a person, in order to determine which may be helpful and which may be harmful for a given desire... such as longevity, strength, beauty, intelligence, etc... The human body is like a land owned and operated by a king and/or queen whose primitive thinking directs the resources to be used in one way or another... be it for good or ill.

  • Three types of symbiosis: (Exploring Symbiosis)
    • There are three general types of symbiosis: mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism. Based on the nature of the interaction between organisms, symbiotic relationships are loosely grouped into one of these types.

      Problematic interpretations of Symbiois

  • Four types of symbiosis: mutualism, commensalism, parasitism, and animalism. (Four types of Symbiosis)
    1. Mutualism: -also known as reciprocal altruism. It is a type of symbiotic relationship in which both the organisms share close physical and biochemical contact. -mostly seen in herbivores
    2. Commensalism: -one organism benefits and the other organism is not helped or harmed.
    3. Parasitism: -relationship where one organism benefits and the other one is harmed -can be ectoparasites and endoparasite
    4. Amensalism: -where one organism is completely dependent on the other organism while the other one is completely unaffected. – two types:
      1. competition: a larger animal dominates the weaker;
      2. antibiosis: one organism is killed by another

  • Five types of symbiosis: The Art of Living Together
    • Because different species often inhabit the same spaces and share—or compete for—the same resources, they interact in a variety of ways, known collectively as symbiosis. There are five main symbiotic relationships: mutualism, commensalism, predation, parasitism, and competition.

  • Six types of symbiosis: ( Commensialism, Mutualism, Parasitism, Neutralism, Competition & Predation)
    1. Commensialism – where one species benefits while the other is unaffected.
    2. Mutualism – both species benefit.
    3. Parasitism – one species benefits while one is harmed.
    4. Competition – neither benefits.
    5. Predation – one species benefits while the other dies.
    6. Neutralism – both species unaffected.

Let us ask which of the foregoing lists or singular point within a list best represents your economic philosophy? Which of them do you think best reflects the SPIRIT of your political, religious and business beliefs but is not expressed in a working perspective thereof? Most often we find that one's beliefs are an apparition of mental aspirations whereas in actual day-to-day practice the ideals are not customarily achieved. Hypocrisy and self-imposed delusions very often set the tone for what actually takes place during an atmosphere of competition against those who may not interpret nor abide by the same standards of morality as you. Whereas in a religious environment they may show nothing but a strict piety, yet spend most of their time in either political or business arenas where the definition of morality and rules of sportsmanship are anything but good. It matters not because if they donate "healthfully" to a religion, the religious leaders can easily create an acceptable religious-based idea to permit such dark activities to continue if the rest of the congregation goes along with the absurdity of the illusion. Unless of course there is no practice of any religious views by a given person in a business, government or religion. The spirit of something as opposed to its letter, is a dichotomy inhabiting every single subject.

Along with the comparison of economic models to ideas of symbiosis, we could include the three basic human body types (Ectomorph- Mesomorph- Endomorph) and three basic animal models note as Symmetrical, Radial and Asymmetrical. All of these represent types of developmental economy, as well as identifying Economics itself as a type of symbiotic creature with different profiles exhibited in different eras and circumstances. For example, we can easily see economic models which suggest or create lean, fat or "average/middle ground" fiscal and living conditions. Likewise, economic models variously exhibit characteristics favoring one of more of the three basic animal models in that sometimes economic conditions are sometimes viewed as being symmetrical (providing equality), at other times asymmetrical (unequal) or radial, which could be interpreted either, and/or both negative or positive economic circumstances. Beyond this, as to the notion that Economics can be viewed as a life form, it may be a chimera in that it can seem to "change its spots: as well as its overall structural characteristics whereby if not in the form and function of an animal, then a plant, an insect, a bacteria or virus. To stabilize the economy may mean to bread one type of life form, or cage the rest, if the death penalty is not imposed on such ideologies.

Using additional ideas as representing metaphors of economic ideas is not difficult. Wherever a gradation exists, we can find illustrations of different economic approaches. Take for example a representation of the three body forms of Buddha. In some places we see a skinny, if not starving figure. In other places we see an obese, if not gluttonous figure. And in still others we find a middle ground body type in that the Buddha is neither fat nor skinny:

While some may claim a usage of only one, or two, or three, or four, or five, or six, etc., ideas... (economic) models which they may or may not mix and match in their personal strategy philosophy; the actual value may be quite different— like a person with an item that others would like to have, but can not guess the correct amount of a particular item at such a (private) auction. Lying frequently occurs. Thoughts typically occur in private auctions that may be closed to but a few individuals with whom they are confident will not reveal their views. Other "Private Auctions" in parallel to this sense, are routinely seen at gatherings where buyers and sellers of different commodities and rarities are hoping to acquire a large proportion at a cheap price for that which a person has or others think they have but may not actually be displayed... other than providing a hint or glimpse, though they may not actually have any such item to sell, loan, lease, or rent. It is a bluff or bait and switch tactic. For example, even unrelated wares can be offered at a gathering, though the gathering be that defined as one in which economists have been invited. In this sense, the actual auction and wares being offered and sought out take place during non-auction periods which the public is privy to partake of. Opportunities for the display and purchase of different wares can be found at different marketplaces, though the marketplace may not be named a marketplace. For example, several prostitutes on a single street may not be viewed as a marketplace, though it might well be given such a label if prostitution was viewed solely in acceptable economic terms. Information, as another example, is a highly profitable venture for some individuals who know what information to have and who would be willing to pay for it.

Every social and individual setting is an expressed economic philosophy. Some are simple, others are more complex. In the arena of atomic physics for instance, the situation requires a function of interest, knowledge and social affability, or at least having some defined reservoir of potential value if for nothing more than a "just in case" scenario. The same holds true for many fields and activities such as an old mechanic being kept around to assist in helping with a particular problem and add weight to an argument in the event one or more others come to dispute a claim. A person's title or position can be such a reservoir, since many a person holds a position in which they themselves do very little and have the actual work delegated to those with less time and experience. The old refrain said to be related to a woman and her stage of marriageability: Something Old; can be placed into an economics frame of mind): Something old (such as a master), Something new (such as an apprentice), Something borrowed (such as resources not yet paid for), Something blue (contractual allowances); and a Sixpence in her shoe (Instead of a woman's dowry, let us suggest it refers to invested monies.). Yet, so can the list of dwarves in the fairy tale Snow White. The names of the dwarfs can be viewed in terms of an economic flow chart seen in the stock market: Grumpy, Dopey, Doc, Happy, Bashful, Sneezy and Sleepy. Like a series of astrological signs, the names of the dwarfs represent different cycles of economic activity, and may suggest to some as a means to predict cycles, if the names can be arranged correctly, and not necessarily in the order that either Walt Disney or some other story writer prefers. Clearly, when one is speaking metaphorically, some latitude must be permitted... if not to be taken seriously, then for the purpose of amusement. While the human mind may come to some point of interpreting subtle physiological perceptions, it may use symbols, signs, allegories, fairytales, myths, religion, math, etc., as a divining rod of expression.

Indeed, depending on one's imagination, any pantheon, hierarchy, lineup, series, order, or other grouping (such as a list of words in a dictionary or encyclopedia, a list of letters in an alphabet, a list of numbers in a series, ranks in religion, positions in sports, branches or departments in government, divisions or groups in politics, functions in a work environment, rules for mixing ingredients, etc.,) can be used as a type of gauge (with or without some boardroom or lecture hall whiteboard, chalkboard, or other instrument of illustration); to describe economic philosophies and stock market trends. The only problem is that the time period(s) being considered may be too long, too short or inappropriate for defining an accuracy with respect to the criteria being used. In other words, a give period of time may not be a useful or the correct period in which a seven dwarfs type of line up scenario is best illustrated. A longer period of time or a period of time within a specific era is more closely matched. Similarly, like a developmental period, a particular line up (or singularities) may be in their infancy, childhood, adolescence and not in step with a particular time period being assessed. They would be more appropriate for a later time more appropriate for their niche, though many people working seriously in a given field of research such as economics want a comprehensive tool of measurement for that which they are personally examining or otherwise come to discount a given tool as being irrelevant for them and quite possibly for everyone for all times and places. For some, a tool is only useful if it makes them or a client money. They are not interested in philosophical speculations or appreciations.

Whereas all subjects have those who look for the most simplest of structures and then follow this with incrementally more complex associations, compounds, and interactions, comparisons from one subject to another are not always easy and straight forward. Sometimes too many allowances are allowed while at other times too few are entertained. And in all cases, there may be no reference made to the creation of hybrids. Though other words may be used, hybrids is what they are, and those hybrids are as conserved as the thinking process of humans are. Let us take for example a scenario found in the Themes and concepts of biology. (Please note that even atoms are themselves expressions of hybrids, as are those structures which are named as being more complex.)

  1. The atom is the smallest and most fundamental unit of matter. The bonding of at least two atoms or more form molecules. A molecule is the smallest particle of a specific compound that retains the chemical properties of that compound.
  2. The simplest level of organization for living things is a single organelle, which is composed of aggregates of macromolecules. A macromolecule is very large molecule, especially used in reference to large biological polymers (e.g. nucleic acids and proteins).
  3. the biological levels of organization of living things arranged from the simplest to most complex are: organelle, cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, organisms, populations, communities, ecosystem, and biosphere.
  4. The highest level of organization for living things is (at present thought to be) the biosphere; it encompasses all other levels.

Each of the above stages involved in the development of life as we know it is an expressed model of economics.

There are those who prefer to lump several economic ideas into groups (thus creating different hybrids) which they qualify with one or another rationale. Using a numerical indexing approach, here is a list of economic ideas whose enumerated groupings suggest a collective importance as seen from different perceptions:

The point in the foregoing index using a numerical referencing model, is to indicate the limitation under which the human mind is operating and may continue to do so unless the whole foundation of economics is changed to effect a different way of life for everyone... which necessarily entails the adopting of an economic system based on the primary objective of removing humanity from the planet, the solar system, and eventually the galaxy so as to remove it from the smaller forces which are directed along a course of incremental deterioration... though the larger Universe may be directed along this course as well. As an expression of hybridization, economics is a particularly primitive creature... just like early models of hybrids found in mythology. This is to be explained with reference to the disproportionately high quantity of ideas which express an old Janus-faced profile.

Interestingly, though I may include the macroeconomic reference of a Classical dichotomy the "two" reference generally does not automatically invoke the numerical alternatives of trichotomies, quadralineals, quintublets, etc..., nor that a dichotomy is a composite and a composite is a hybrid. Composites such as variable/invariable, real/imaginary, input/output, loss/gain, tangible/intangible and multiple others do not reflexively commit anyone to think of economics in terms of being a mythology of hybrids. Hybrids of ideas that is... and that the total sum of hybrids being used is based predominantly on the antiquated mindset of using a dichotomous orientation because... it appears, that most people involved with the issues of the stockmarket have a dual-oriented brain commensurate with the beastly primitive perspective one can figuratively describe as a predator/prey or dog-eat-dog (if necessary) situation.

And though the often used depiction of a hawk/dove circumstance may be used by many to describe not only economics but politics and all things related to human commerce in and out of the market of goods involving large sums of capital; this model is extremely old fashioned and needs to be revised because the tactics used by the avowed hawk predator actually entails the skills of a coward and highway man waiting to ambush any vulnerability in its purview. If you have ever witnessed the tactics used by hawks to get a prey, same-size birds (such as a pigeon while in flight) are not routinely grabbed, but are run/flown into so as to knock them into an obstacle and cause them to lose sense of "who" and where they are. The disorientation of being knocked into a wall or tree is then taken advantage of. In terms of the dove, if one simply replaces this innocent victim with that of a pigeon, one not only quickly realizes that pigeons can out fly hawks, but in a larger biological sense must wonder why such potential victims don't develop a comparable means of protection and if needed, a means to subdue the attacker. In the sense of an arms race, why haven't the preyed-on victims developed similar claws, beaks, size and tactics against such predators? Unless of course it is answered by the idea that evolution evolves evolutionary-attuned potentialities commensurate with a given species which routinely has or begins to practice a given physiologically-based development or skill which exists in a fledgling state. Economics is a predatory activity.
