Beginning a Prologue after one has completed writing 16 pages of a New Communism draft might well be received by future chroniclers with skepticism, suspicion or humor, depending on their disposition to reflect upon the position to which I am placed in having been presented with a flurry of ideas which have not actually abated, but have provided a momentary pause for some reflection.
Communists, as with other would-be social reformers have three alternatives characteristically outlined by basic psychology:
- Continue to struggle in a perceived confrontation colloquially labeled as a "fight"; thus referencing a perceived loss and gain of one another battle with an actual war yet to be fought.
- Continue to defer to whatever authority is in vogue for a particular time and place, colloquially labeled as a "freeze"; thus referencing a perceived cessation of activity.
- Continue to participate in one or another personalized enclaves where philosophical doctrine creates an atmosphere of an acquired foothold, colloquially labeled as a "flight"; thus referencing a perceived egotistically defined measure of tactically redrawing (retreating) in order to regroup.
Everyone who comes upon this prologue to a New Communism must fully appreciate that no one owns the word "Communism". Even though there have been ancient attempts to practice Communism in the form of a defined Communalism or Commonism such as by religious sects, we of the present are not bound to having to use either some past model or associated definition of the word. Indeed, it must be stated clearly that while Marx and Engles promoted then emphasis of a political idea that they labeled as Communism, they do not own it. It is not their personal property and their philosophy is not to be construed as a "State" which owns the word either. However, because there are multiple variations of Communism, this frequently leads to both a misunderstanding and confusion of what is being meant when the word Communism is brought up, unless a specific doctrine is outlined and its advocates do not sway unpredictably between one flavor and others, depending on what they are confronted with and attempt to provide some justification for a given rationale. Let's face it. political theorists are like many others in their untried philosophies in that they can come across as hypocrites. It is to be expected, and some latitude should be provided for such drawing board illustrations. Since even so-called "straight forward" math equations are sometimes open to multiple interpretations due to the complexity involved, it should come of no surprise that equations made up of words which inherently come with multiple meanings can be misconstrued. Hence, needless problems sometime ensue do to the old adage of philosophers quibbling over semantics... particularly when most have little conception as to the mechanism which recurring patterns in audiology play in the influence of human cognitive processing and illustration.
However, no matter what steps one may take in an effort to preclude the condition in which the blind men and elephant situation might arise, one can only hope that there will at the very least some modicum of reflection to this end.
In as much as the usage of the Word "Communism" has multiple meanings, let us not overlook the fact that so does Democracy and multiple other perspectives such as truth, beauty, love, peace, wealth, etc... Yet, the distinction of difference to be made is that it is only Communism which is striving to usurp Democracy, since the many flavors of Democratic practice has effectively embraced the ideas of truth, beauty, love, peace, wealth, etc., just like the ancient religions which effectively came to embrace and then transform what are referred to as commonly practiced ideas called paganism, though what we of today might label as a commonality may have been more of a competing interest of a select few in the past. Irrespective of the actual account of occurrence in its disposition in a past era, the idea of a generality becoming owned by a centrality speaks of a Communist tenet due to its adopted commonality. This same activity is taking place in the present era by way of a centralized ownership of property by the State by way of a leasing program conducted through the mechanism of taxation. In other words, the general idea of believing in the personal ownership of one's home as their property is embraced as an accepted ideal, though the reality is that the State, that is the government, owns all property and merely leases one's assumed property to them by way of yearly taxation. If one refuses to pay taxes, the property can be confiscated by the state and re-sold by way of the practiced leasing program, through the action of an auction.
Whereas one may claim ownership of a vehicle, they can not operate the vehicle on the assumed "publicly owned" roads; unless they pay a yearly tax, called a vehicle registration. In this case, the people are forced by law to pay taxes by which the State can maintain roads labeled as being publicly owned, yet it is the State whose "stand apart from" or partialized absentee ownership allows for the false impression of public ownership. Indeed, if the State wants to, it can serve notice on anyone that by right of "Eminent Domain" their assumed privately owned land can be confiscated, albeit with Just compensation as determined by the judgment of the State. In some actions, the deed to a property developer can be provided by the machinations of State officers who confiscate a land from a presumed private owner under the provision of some violation that needs no Just compensation to be provided, hence providing a means by which laws can be circumvented and the logical idea of having a law which prevents laws from being subjected to an underminement is not written into law itself, because political leaders want to retain the ability of having a controlling hand that gives the impression of legality. And yes, this is the so-called fairness of an assumed Democratic practice, in which multiple inequalities abound because politicians are routinely those who are not particularly visionary, nor wise, nor intelligent, but exercise a deviousness to use laws intentionally written for the purpose for allowing skilful lawyers and creative accountants an ability by which a law can be circumvented. Whether in the corridors of business, government or religion, there is always some devious character waiting an opportunity to take advantage of the people, and use the law for good or ill in order to achieve a personal goal or exercise some ulterior motive, if for no other reason then because they are in a position to and have no other means nor method by which to effect some change, like a game piece on a board.
Communism, like Socialism and Democracy as well as business and religious doctrines have their short-comings, even though advocates and adherents might want to assume some infallibility to flaws they would be the first to cover up or provide an excuse for. Then again, knowledge of and acceptance of such is not excuse to continue a practice that is clearly a disadvantage to a majority... a majority which may be a minority when contrasted to a whole. All business models, political ideologies, and religious beliefs constitute a culture that is otherwise to be noted as a cult. And yes, a cult can consist of a single person or many millions and even billions. In fact, humanity is a cult unto itself. If it could be contrasted with an extra-terrestrial species which numbered in the trillions, the cult-like disposition of human activity would be more readily recognized. As it stands, personal and group-centered absorptions make it difficult for many to appreciate their presence in a cult, particularly when the word "cult" is often interpreted negatively as is the label "Communism". As such, humanity might well be better served in its efforts to be progressively oriented to some supposed ultimate design commonly regarded as striving for a paradise, Heaven on Earth; or in the more contemporary, non-religious vernacular of a Utopia. Time and experience alter cognitive dispositions away from earlier preoccupations of linguistic derivation to suppositions currently in vogue with interests towards adopting what is contemporaneously thought to reflect a reality of greater practicality; though it is clear that the idea of a proposed "Utopia", even if it is presented in the presumed terms of a practical economics related to an enhanced appreciation of human limitations and environmental resources, is akin to an adult-stage illusion previously denoted as a fairytale, myth and folklore.
Neither Communism, Capitalism or Big Government are evil monsters. They are simply being labeled as such by those who want to advance their own agendas, though Communism, Capitalism and Big Government can be used to do destructively evil acts over protracted periods. Communists, Capitalists and Big Government aficionados are typically those who truly want to bring about the best for everyone. They want everyone to share in an equal distribution of goods and services. Unfortunately, those who sincerely want to do good are confronted by those who believe in a lopsided practice of entitlement. In attempts to navigate the blockades, the attacks, the attempted hijackings, sabotage, and ambushes, along with intermittent attacks of guerrilla-like warfare tactics to undermined their well-intentioned efforts, they are forced into a corner or placed into a position in which their back is up against a wall and primordial instincts come to the fore, initially as a measure of self-defense, then as a means of self-preservation, than as being given little else to do but confront the assailant head-on. And though some perceived attacks are illusory, others are not. Others are very real and persist without the people being given a means to confront the assailment in a fair fight, because those in leadership positions are typically those who have had to scratch and claw their way to a position against other marauders who use the same tactics because the system in which they are forced to compete in, is according designed by an old standard that is kept in place by foolish traditions and habitually practiced political ceremonialisms that have relegated such nonsense to the believed in philosophy of being a natural instinct taught in public education systems as a dogma that is to be preserved at any and all costs, and thus is an expected orientation that is to be inculcated as if it were a scripturally-rendered inviolable truth for which a belief there in is rewarded with acceptance into a social and academic cult.
Along with the three aforementioned behavioral characterizations we find several alternative executions thereof, typically along the lines of some Machiavellian disposition otherwise noted as an empirical or practical or worldly evaluation of the human condition as opposed primarily to a spiritual one, though this old dualism needs to be updated to a third cognate emphasizing a practical approach to a transcendent supposition of possibility, which is to be understood in terms of three levels of consciousness when compared to our present currency of understanding consciousness:
- Ancient humans, pre- and during the beginnings of large-bodied civilization held primitive semi-conscious reality in their grasp. One might refer to this as the Id model of Consciousness.
- Later humans (and many today) thought that there existed a transcendent form of consciousness called the abode of the gods... now chiefly observed as for a single god, owing to the development of a consciousness aligned with the configurations of an internalized state called the ego.
- The present Ego consciousness has variously attempted to transcend itself through labels, definitions and accompanying activities, such as is comprised in words like essence, transcendence, enlightenment, heaven, spirituality, Cosmos, Dimension, future, other-worldly, occultism, renaissance, Eureka, liberation, Existentialism, geometry, music, mathematics, physics, law, evolution, etc... This can be symbolized as the Super-ego consciousness seeking that which is thought to exist the practicalities of the Ego and ego-ideal.
Though the concept of the Id- Ego- Superego represent a three-patterned construct of Freud's during an era when there was a wide-spread obsession with practicing a believed-in liberation of consciousness through sexual experimentation and foregoing of social conventions; they nonetheless serve to illustrate a recurring formulation of cognitive activity that some assume to "be headed somewhere," if then nothing more than a further adaptation to changing environmental conditions.
Here is one description of Machiavellianism which highlight both a duality and trichotomous portrayal, by looking at the person for whom the idea is derived:
Niccolò Machiavelli presented himself (on one interpretation, at least):
- as seeking to escape from both transcendent will and transcendent reason into the empirical,
- into life as it is, observed through the eyes of a worldly man whose mind is uncluttered with philosophical and theological preconceptions.
He can be understood, in his own words, to be seeking what a principality is, the variety of such States:
- how they are won,
- how they are held,
- how they are lost.
This conception was the more remarkable in 1513, since such an approach had then barely been promulgated for study of the physical world. It had still, indeed, to await its major manifesto in that sphere until Francis Bacon's Advancement of Learning at the end of the century.
Even on the more favourable view of Machiavelli's aim—i.e., as describing, rather than prescribing, political behaviour—it remains true that he saw this description as ancillary to the art of maintaining the state and its ruler, so that this maintenance is a kind of end in itself. The omnipotence—unrestrained by law or morality—that he both ascribes and prescribes to the prince is thus a product not so much of his scientific detachment as of his tendency to view political power as a value, as an end in itself.

By this account, Machiavelli only saw the here and now as the only reality. There was nothing to transcend or transition into as if being involved with some metamorphosis, like the often-cited disposition of some caterpillars to eventually reach the stage of a butterfly, that from the perspective of a butterfly the caterpillar may well hold the opinion that it is an ascendant being... like an angel not tied to the vagaries of day to day concern and hardship. In addition, this account portrays the attitude that there is no other state of existence except that which is stated as the existence.... There is no emergent property to evolve out of, through and into such as is sometimes described as accounting for the presence of both language and consciousness, though various other subjects could well be placed into this lineup, though the cited misconstrued architectural idea of a spandrel placed into the context of biology by Stephen J. Gould suggests that what can be described as an outcome need not necessarily be that which was intentionally designed. It could accidental and take on the presence of that later to be labeled as a vestigial remnant, from which the notion of before and after developments occur with a reason and purpose, even if humans do not appreciate what the reason(s) and purpose(s) was/were/are.
Both Socialism and Communism on the other hand think that a transcendence in the human condition is possible and that through a practical means of diligent application, that which awaits us, a pronounced utopia, can be achieved. Democracy, however, has taken on a Machiavellian perspective asserting and insisting that it and only it, with one variation or another, is the penultimate achievement and humanity should be happy with their lot. Democracy does not actively participate in the various attempts by which humanity might progress, unless funding by way of unequal tax laws, bureaucratized grant processes, and tax exemption are to be interpreted as a form of direct participation. Yet, while it must give the impression for engaging in some manner of assistance, there is an incentive to be obstructive or a path that is found to exist which allows for transcendency, means its proponents will lose control. They will not have the necessary volumes of people to supply the taxes for them to gain their believed-in entitlements nor create conditions by which the social order is from time to time disordered in a fashion that their respective skills can formulate some reasonable level of fixing a given social problem; whereby they get to play out the of Saviour... of someone important enough to be placed into the annuals of history. To be perceived as having made a difference, even if they had to first create a problem tailored to their skills, is better than having not made any difference. They prefer history to wade through the morass and discover the subterfuge and deceits, than anyone contemporaneous with them.
Democracy is sometimes portrayed as the genius of the people, though "the people" is generally meant to mean the public but actually inclines itself towards an adjudication concerning those who have appointed themselves at one time or another as the spokesperson for one another group, even though they may want to convey the idea of some citizen-wide approval. However, as history points out, there is no actual process by which the whole of any public can be permitted to openly vote for or against a given question, and that in order to exercise such a presumed basic democratic practice, involves the adoption of some extra-ordinary effort on either the part of a politician, political body, or the citizenry. In short, Democracy is not a given practice even in a supposed day-to-day practice of a democracy, though the people are expected to accept the illusion that they are participating in such an exercise. And as is currently proposed by all forms of Socialism and Communism, the people again will not be enabled to exercise any collective approach to officiating their own government and government processes... that is after they collectively assert themselves to accommodate the desires of those to establish what is professed to be a transcendent formula of government... namely a Socialism or Communism.
All three: Communism, Democracy and Socialism, in their present modalities, are the expressed personality disorders of a species that needs a larger revampment of its philosophies and how they are applied to different subjects. Far too many are in an Id, or an Ego, or a Super-ego world-view orientation, and neither Religion, Psychology nor Sociology has helped to produce a better overall situation. In short, humanity is a mess. The planet Earth has been reduced to various enclaves of psychiatric treatment for which none of the programs suffice as having any collective effect. We need a new approach, even if this means to create one by way of stirring up the sediments from these three which currently give the impression of being three mongrel pups chasing one another's tails. And even if it means bursting open the container in which they are being housed, like the proverbial Pandora's box. We need to unshackle all of them at the same time from the chains of their respective mill stones around which they circumnavigate and increase the grip on the peoples of the world to see nothing other than their own shadows cast upon the walls like those of Plato's cave.
The people must rise up and exert a different model of disciplining these three and their wayward friends as well as associates (Anarchism, Libertarianism, Corporatism, Capitalism, Monarchialisms, etc...), with a level of bias, discrimination and prejudice that they have effectively transferred onto the people for centuries. Whereas we have made note of the three basic behavioral responses, and the three attached personality figurines, let us construct and practice a philosophy which makes it all to certain that the people themselves will engage in greater ruthlessness or greater magnanimity as they themselves shall define in the absence of permitting the people to progress, with all speed, with all practicality, into the era wherein lays a heartfelt hope that there physically exists the promise of a better future for all of humanity as the collective will of the people will blaze for themselves when their leaderships, in one or all subjects gives hesitation to not because of some foreknown danger, but because of a personalized reticence to venture beyond the grasp of an insecurity that wants all others to embrace and share in so as to bring comfort to fears which need to be replaced by a fearless, a courage, and an appreciation that humanity, in these early years of development, is much like an impulsive adolescent whose hubris needs to be trained, not constrained or restrained.
From page 290 of a 2007 American Heritage College Dictionary one can encounter the definition of Communism as follows:
A system of government in which the state controls the economy and a single party holds power, claiming to work toward a social order in which all goods are equally shared.
Such a definition does not begin to address those ideas which define the practice of a classless society nor an equitable distribution of services. In other words, other ideas are frequently attributed to a definition of Communism, but all of them center around the practice of an idea focused on a Machiavellian-styled 'here and now' being represented as some future goal to be idealized as the attainment of a Utopia defined by an acquired equanimity, but that there is nothing set into place, in the "here and now," to suggest the accomplishment of such a situation will thus assist humanity to pursue a further goal. In other words, the goal of Communism is being offered like some Olympic sports record to beat, but that there is nothing more to be gained once this is achieved.
In other words, the current definitions of Communism can not be used to define Communism. If the only goal of Communists is to set up a Communist government yet there is nothing more to be achieved thereafter, why would any one want to bother participating in a plan with such a mediocre goal, except those whose ambitions are likewise just as mediocre, yet their world-view interprets a like-minded mediocrity as a lofted sense of possible accomplishment; like so many public school students who come from other countries such as Latin America and are forced to excel beyond the mediocre standards of their former school systems, only to cause many American students to be dumbed down so as to lower the bar of competition for some assumed standard of fairness and equality that some Communists would come to agree with and expect everyone to grade on a similar curve. Hence, in striving for the adoption of a Communism of shared equality, what standard of equality are we to use? Thus, the goal of Communism can not solely nor primarily be to establish its functionality if in its placement, we have simply engage in a game of musical chairs where one gender or race or religion, etc., replaces another one, yet the overall function-ability of government as not actually appreciably improved.
A New Communism can not have the same definition as old and current models of Communism. Setting up a Communistic government as THE primary goal amounts to little more than a change in wardrobe, makeup, script, stage props and scenery, while the same deteriorations of Earth, Solar System and Galaxy have no impact on governance at all; just as there is little concerted effort for environmental and human global concerns taking place today. Current models of Communism, nor Socialism, nor Democracy have game plans for such circumstances written into their basic bylaws, though ancient cultures did embrace a respect and desired nurturance for the environment and everyone in the respective social setting. For Communists to pay lip service to such concerns does little to provide any confidence in any actual interest unless such concerns are realistically made a functional part of the Communist definition and not some small print inclusiveness which allows for minimizing any ill effects for side-stepping responsibility and guarantees.
Without a formally state interest and concerted goal in addressing all environmental and human concerns, all political ideologies become increasingly deligitimized and require that the collective will of the citizenry take an assertive role in correcting this issue. To do less is an affront to our collective humanity. And this is what the New Communism must be unreservedly focused on, as part of its goal to move beyond former definitions which limit the imagination and erect edifices of itself that humanity is not permitted to look beyond, much less take a step forward in the present, in preparation for the eventual trail blazing trek as other are busying themselves with setting up a Communist encampment. Some of us are born to be scouts who venture forth while others are more concerned with the commodification of a self-serving interest of shared equatability, however humble and selfless such concerted efforts may initially give the impression of being.
