The development of an idea of Love in a view-scape of the "threes" phenomena showing up in some individuals as a formative influence in the ideas (and perhaps follow-up activities), can additionally be seen in Sternberg's later (2005) "three"-aligned idea called the Triarchic Theory of Intelligence, with multiple three-patterned sub-layer categories of stepping stones for foraging through his idea. His use of threes of course places him in the ranks of others such as C.S. Peirce's (#9) Triadism and the Universal Categories, [Peirce was born at 3 Phillips Place in Cambridge, Massachusetts.] the conceptual Triads of Hegel; as well as Kant's Three Maxims (#20), expressed here in yet another way: 3 Maxims (or Principles to the Categorical Imperative)... #12. While not whole systems of a person's philosophy may be structured with a 3-patterned scaffolding, a definitive 3-part point of discussion may be, or their philosophy may be summed up by others using a three-part expression as a definitive. (Like the view that two points are too view and four or more points seems unnecessarily long.)

The use of a three theme by multiple thinkers, and its seeming absence from others being used by them in any major position of expose', though there may be multiple personal uses taken for granted by themselves and those they encounter, begs the question of why. While we can claim it is due to culture, or/and in which major threes themes play out and may be taught in school or be used in sources of entertainment; due we then also lean towards a cultural disposition when we find the pattern occurring in Natural phenomena such as the three particles of atoms, being on the third planet, a triple code in DNA, 3 developmental Germ layers, or we encounter a replete List of Threes in Human Anatomy? And if we claim that it is these very threes (and others) of Nature are part of an ensemble of origination, what then do we make of the comment by some Astronomers that binary star systems appear as the largest ratio figure: (The ratios of binary systems to triplet and quadruplet systems is 46:9:2.) And yet in the following article we get a different picture:
Most multiple star systems are triple stars. Systems with four or more components are less likely to occur. Multiple-star systems are called triple, ternary, or trinary if they contain 3 stars; quadruple or quaternary if they contain 4 stars; quintuple or quintenary with 5 stars; sextuple or sextenary with 6 stars; septuple or septenary with 7 stars; octuple or octenary with 8 stars. These systems are smaller than open star clusters, which have more complex dynamics and typically have from 100 to 1,000 stars. Most multiple star systems known are triple; for higher multiplicities, the number of known systems with a given multiplicity decreases exponentially with multiplicity. For example, in the 1999 revision of Tokovinin's catalog of physical multiple stars, 551 out of the 728 systems described are triple. However, because of suspected selection effects, the ability to interpret these statistics is very limited. (Star system)
So is it double stars or triple stars as the most prominent feature in the Universe, or just our neighborhood? If it is double stars then the "3s" phenomena is restricted to Earth, but if it is a Universal theme, we are dealing with a whole different Ball game. If it is the Three, then... generally speaking, those religions and philosophies using a three theme referencing a pathway along which a three philosophy is to be secured in order to reach a higher power are right in their assertions, and yet they are very wrong at the same time. While they claim their god is all knowing, everywhere, and almighty, they restrict themselves and others to abide by a set of rules, a set of beliefs, a dogma, a prescript, a tradition and repetition of practices which do not allow for exponential growth to begin on Earth. It amounts to a massive system of slavery which binds, belittles, and beats human consciousness into becoming a domesticated beast of burden to supply a livelihood to those who have gravitated to positions of authority requiring an adeptness of beguiling and manipulation those who suffer for an opportunity to reach beyond themselves without the fetters of an ageless confinement which government, business and religion have perpetrated and perpetuated... all the while casting themselves as the misunderstood underdog with the noblest of intentions... all the while creating artificial expressions of achievement by way of contrived hierarchical systems of positions, practice, and policy.
The same underlying pattern of hierarchical positioning takes place on all levels of human interactions, even if it is a single person who interacts with inanimate objects. Clothes, food, entertainment, exercise, reading, etc., may all be prioritized into a ranking system, even if a person does not have an actual journalized blueprint of what they do, what order they do them in, and if allowances are made for refurbishments thought to create improvement. To maintain a tradition of thought and activity as exhibited by Western religion and Eastern philosophy suggests not only an insecurity against change for an attempted improvement through thoughtful, considerate and sensibly pragmatic reevaluation, but also perhaps a deep-seated fear of knowingly having to confront the possibility of being wrong in their ideological summations.
While a ranking system is useful within and across disciplines such as the 3 college degrees (Bachelors- Masters- PhD), there is no highly visible means of detecting the level of one's personal (or a group's collective) achievement unless some contrivance of measurement is applied and agreed upon. In many cases, desired achievements become embossed by applied traditions or labeling adopted as an artificialized system of observance. Words and attitudes not understood outside a given context might not be interpreted to be indicative of a believed in rating scale from novice to master. Indeed, with historical practice being used as the teaching methodology, we can see contrived systems of measurement being used as the most desired achievement and not that which a grading system is supposed to produce overall. Rating scales within multi-person groups can be useful as a general rule-of-thumb to give beginners some indication that their hard work is producing a visible end result. Yet, how does one measure an individual's personal steps towards a higher consciousness of realization if none of the typical tools of measurement are employed such as fame, fortune and applicably noted foresight? How does one measure greatness or value if they are terms inapplicable to that which one's consciousness is unknowingly focused on due to some inner voice? If one sets aside cultural predilections of meaning and justification, where does that leave us if we leave such contrivances by the way-side in order to discover what lays beyond, if anything at all?
It is understood that cultural predilections are not necessarily gifted with the ability to construct an enviable affinity between innocence and honesty in order to bridge the precipice of unfettered perspicuity for becoming preeminently astute beyond experiential guesstimations that may be called methodically common-sensical, logically refined, and Mathematically sound— yet in reality may be little more than excursions into a primitive linguistics practice pertaining to a multiplicity of perceptions whose inter-connected congruence is difficult for human physiology to accurately filter out any and all background noise so as to provide some pure and undiluted intimation of that which our present languages mummify and set up for display... due to the traumas of history passed from generation to generation and have largely been forgotten... taken for granted... and on several occasions even preserved by being embraced into some inculcated notion of normalcy that we of the present may or may not have an exceptionally applicable term to describe... and much less illustrate, except for some crude approximation contrived by the vocabulary currently in vogue within the culture of a given profession.
Let us take a 3 character element story as a humorous example, since it is an enumerated convention seen in multiple jokes:
"An excavation in a remote region has uncovered information pertaining to the deep past, revealing a slave was whipped to get up and catch the owners dog." Future independent examinations of the site by Anthropological, Religious, Philosophical and Archeological excavations gather the bits and pieces to weave a narrative to be understood in the cultural context of a given era from their individualized professional perspectives. Thus, different translations emerge befitting the orientation of the investigators which have constructed their own version of the overall picture, though pieces of detail remain unaccounted for. Here is a list of their evaluations:
- Religious investigator: God is merciful to those who abideth with the instruction of the law involving a triad, trinity, triunity.
- Sociological investigator: Clear tripartite divisions of society breed a harmonious functionality.
- Anthropological investigator: A primitive group of three, one step removed from the Savanna with disproportionate cranial capacities.
- Political Science investigator: 3 characterizations of a Renter, Capitalist, and Worker that Marx called the bourgeoisie and proletariat.
- Mathematical investigator: 1 slave + 1 owner + 1 dog is the story problem of an infinitely progressive Pythagorean theorem.
- Businessman investigator: One must know their day to day priorities to gain the greater profit: (account receivables, retainables, returnables)
- Archeological investigator: 3 fine museum specimens to be historically enshrined in glass cases with shiny plaques of identification.
- Street Vendor investigator: I will whip up hotdogs with catsup to sell to the starving indentured servant employees for $3.00.
Eventually, the remnants become interpreted by way of cultural slang to represent a commonplace idea about changing attitudes and priorities. The Story becomes subjected to a flip-flopped rendition of "I'll take a hotdog with catsup". In keeping with political correctness regardless of the actual truth, the slaves are now viewed as adept sports figures who meet at a yearly ritualized festival of hotdog eaters.
Indeed, some patterns in History, perceived by multiple ancestral forbearers... appear to be repeated and passed on to future generations by way of social practices whose acceptance or rejection can change from one generation to the next, along with the definitions of good, neural or bad... such as for example the Swastika symbol aligned with a prehistoric past or the advent of its usage in 20th century Germany or the pitchfork in the hand of a mythological god or believed in tool for directing the placement of sinners. One of several patterns is that we of today label as "three", becomes displayed in a multiplicity of forms such as 3 dots, 3 dashes, 3 numbers, 3 letters, 3 sequences, 3 sequences of 3 sequences, 3 laws, 3 rules, 3 additive/3 subtractive colors, Middle C note, 3 fragrances, 3 textures, etc...
Overtime, later generations become proprietors of older ideas mixed with newer ones, often-times in compounded formulas with different generations creating complex constructions offered as simplistic representations, but only if a person takes bite-size portions to make them more intellectually digestible over extended periods of time, long after the impulses of emotion have become diminished. However, since very many ideas contain similarities too convincing to ignore, councils of different beliefs may convene to find some common underlying thread which interlaces all of them with the common bond of the human psyche. Analogously speaking, the condition is very much like the world's peoples being subjected to a basic construct of Nature that speaks multiple languages, and yet has the same underlying three-part message acting as an effective stepping stone to an enlightened orientation. Let me say, so to speak in the use of imagery, humanity is being offered a signpost which incorporates different letters, numbers and symbols. Much like being confronted by a 3-language inscription on different artefacts, and yet no one is piecing them together into a concerted whole because everyone in their individual context wants to claim a separate ownership and place their honored find in a glass case, force feed it to the public by way of a mass produced for-profit commodity of idealized and idolized impressions, or as some definitive representation with no margin for error or improvement. For example, it is not often for one to encounter the view that all western religions, all eastern philosophies as well as those ideas which reject any and all such views, as being pieces of a puzzle which also contain elements of all sciences, Mathematics, and each person's own ideological orientation, whether conventional or not.
When seeking a common thread there are only a few who seek similarities of form, function, and formulaic expressions, in order to unravel what can be viewed in terms of a math formula expressed with varying words, symbols and tip of the tongue nuances. Instead of using the metaphor of a light at the end of the tunnel to be reached for a new beginning, one may describe the journey as the effort of a person standing before a door looking at a light emanating through it and the key one is holding has teeth in the value of a "3" that is shaped in accord with the materials and craftsmanship of a given era, in which most often the letter "E" is seen or viewed as an "M" or "W", depending on how one is holding the key. In the Jainist tradition of thought and illustration, for example, we can see the image of a keyhole along with three dots set above the old prosperity symbol called the Swastika to reference particular ideals (right knowledge, right faith, and right conduct) that others claim for their own superior point of view, but do not also apply to a similar model of symbolism. Using such symbolism as an example should not be construed as an attempted advertisement of a given belief nor advocacy of a given belief, even if it prides the use of principles many people intellectually agree with.
The symbol was interpreted long ago as representing a cycle of prosperity because its origin is that of the seven star Big Dipper aligned into a single image representing its direction during the 3 solstices and 2 equinoxes. No doubt it was awe inspiring revelation when it was first unraveled by star gazers centuries ago who believed that a superior being(s) was providing messages written in the elements of the cosmos as if viewing a schoolroom's chalk board. It was a propitious sign to be associated with the cycle of life and not aligned with any group's negative actions. Yet, since all of humanity remains very much in a state of innocent ignorance, in which way do the village idiots of Earth come to express themselves except through imagery that is one step away from cave dwellers and have a desire to illustrate ideas, impressions, interpretations, feelings and the like with the crude tools of its disposal, no matter what views are offered to describe humanity's present state of development in its different articulations?
How does nature come to speak of its simple message if that message is claimed as one's own precepts needing to be re-symbolized and defined according to the impulses of a given era? Indeed, how does any person, much less an entire culture or species begin to see through its own mistakes of knowledge based on misinterpretations of historical judgments that were themselves caricatures of misidentifications and illustrations thereof, if combined with a social stratification, commerce, education system, sciences, religions, philosophies, mathematics, industry, and technology that have all been constructed in ways which support false conclusions leading not to a desired way forward, but as that of a dog chasing its own tail but the dog is itself a modernized version of an ancient relic of thinking that was imagined as the shape of a dragon that stretches back into the distant past, making the realization of parallel representations of cyclicity all that more difficult to acknowledge as a very ancient construct, even though there exist mis-defined representations such as a serpent coiled onto its own tail and not realized by many because of its badge name with the word Ouroboros?
When you come across descriptions of a 3-based formula, most might think it is the words attached to the enumeration which signifies the greater importance, and yet it is the very basic enumeration which has a far more reaching application than do the practiced ideas attached. Yet, in very many circumstances the words do not have a cross-subject application without severe modification like forcing the proverbial square peg into a round hole. It is not that any such expression or attached idea is necessarily bad or wrong, but they can act as distractions from realizing any further core principle(s) can be ascertained distinct from any and all ideas which have become attached like a symbiotic organism whose relationship is misidentified and should more rightly be viewed alternatively. Not only do people attach themselves to ideas, but so do cultures as does the entire species of humanity, without taking time to reassess the role of people and the role of ideas.
Here are the 3 models of attachment scenarios defined in a biological setting which are applicable to the roles in which ideas interact with people, even though I can recall an image decades ago which exhibited Humanity as a mosquito in relationship to a pointed finger of (a) god which it prays to and worships while taking it fill of blood during the charade:
Yes, you might well conceive of more complicated symbiotic scenarios. But when looking at all the beliefs, there is on unmistakable central and dominant theme, and that is for humanity to reach beyond its confines of its Earthly presence to strive for, to reach, to achieve, a higher place, a higher plane, a higher permissibility to move forward. In different ways with different rules of thumb under the heading of some fortune seeking enterprise, humanity has sought to face its fears of the unknown to venture forth. By way of trading to acquire potentially salable items, by way of warfare to conquer, by way of exploration to seek a shorter path to the promise of a new world; so too do all religions worthy of their namesake endowment practice a similar entrepreneurship. And yet, religions throughout history have defined their rules of obeisance which binds them ever more securely to the confines of Earth. It is a strategy, a tactic that religious leaderships throughout time have practiced as a type of enslavement for everyone to meditate on, pay tribute to, and worship... as if it were a directive from some superior being and not the underlying egos of earth-bound leaderships.
Very often the rules of thumb to be used to achieve that being intimated as existing beyond the normal ken are expressed in a pattern-of-three by later born religious and philosophical orientations. The mentality of very old religious orientations stick to the familiarity of tradition by using patterns other than three. However, there are those whose egos are supplanted with an active superego whereby they construct multiplications of the three in an attempt to deal with a perceived multiplicity... real or imagined. Yet, we very often encounter leaderships or those wanting to effect a leadership to create obstacles of time constraint, or standards of application meant to fatigue pursuers who are then forced to accept a delay and provide a livelihood to those who have created a labyrinth of ritualisms to be traversed like a gauntlet lined with a myriad of services that must also be paid for so long as one remains in the village where it is claimed the only true path is that which is being offered there. All governments, all religions, all businesses, all enterprises, and every single person creates for themselves the illusion of a time, place, position defined as a goal, an achievement to be sought after and reached. And very often we see the adherence to some 3-part plan, or belief, or orientation, or practice applied to such. Be it a 3-day exercise routine, 3-patterned government, 3-tiered social stratification, 3-step guidance, 3 divisions, 3-piece puzzle, a trinity of figures, a triad of distinction, a 3-degree program, 3-value nob adjustment, a 3-fold way, a 3-ships assignment, etc...
And yet even when taking stock of the similarities, the conclusion that humanity must direct all its resources and efforts towards removing itself from the Earth in an actual effort to reach beyond themselves, the task is placed into the hands of a government or business entity governed by those who do not embraced the larger picture of human salvation. The god, the heaven, the higher consciousness you seek is not to be found by being confined to the Earth, no matter what rationale is used to force the peoples of the world to absorb a multitude of self-defining introversions instead of an actual step onto the precipice of the unknown by leaving Earth en masse, in an Exodus. A departure unlike that of a new born infant whose umbilical cord from its Mother is cut asunder. Humanity must be weaned from its many types of mother... Mother Earth, Motherland, Mother Mary and the more vulgar expression abbreviated as M-Fer. The regurgitation of matriarchal prominences underscores the need for humanity to remove itself from its repetitive rut of engaging in ideological pursuits which constrain humanity's growth in a realistic fashion and not the intellectual garments forced up humanity by self-serving institutions run by those who say that the relationship with government is mutually beneficial instead of the recurring use of other symbiotic formulas.
An excursion into the domains of religion and philosophy are necessary to provide examples how the recurring value of three can be adopted in different ways, and yet sustain an elevated prominence of rule and role playing. Patterns-of-three in different guises are used as stepping stones, as guiding lights, as street corner signs and traffic signals for the different paths humans are on... and yet fail to interpret the underlying meaning with its own belief value that is disregarded like a fossil bone being chewed on by a dog, but is the missing link to reconstructing a more definitive understanding of all subjects.
Researching the origin of the Threes Phenomena is an important excavation into the psyche of humanity in its many venues of exploration.
This is why the "3" is perceived and expressed in multiple types of symbolic personification adjusted to a given individual's temperament, inclinations, experience, knowledge, and wisdom, as well as those controversial explanations one might label as a psychic link to an inter-dimensionality, an aura-fication level, the lineage vagaries of that labeled the soul (New Soul- Old Soul- Ancient Soul); as well as those adhered to labels in languages which are quite unfamiliar to some, and may extol a very private vocabulary that may or may not be attached to some effort (ritualized or otherwise), which seeks to strengthen the opportunity to step beyond one's personal former and precede into the uncharted whereabouts which all too frequently become diffused and intermixed with previous views one may be more familiarized with and can therefore provide some recognizable context for an attempted purposeful rendering into that both practical and logistically sound, as well as being amenable to future exploration. In very many meditation chants this Resonating feature is claimed by practitioners as the 3 sounds referenced as Om, which are the 3 letters A-U-M where the A and U are coalesced into an O. It is said to contain the entire universe, and idea that may have initially been generate thousands of years ago by those whose world, reality and universe was the sphere of geographical knowledge known at the time.
One interpretation of AUM (Om) says "it is an aspect of God — and is the divine creative vibration of the whole universe. Everything in creation is vibrating with God’s power. AUM is the sound made by the vibration of God’s presence within us and all around us".
Indeed, if you meditate on the sound as you speak it or you are in a crowd of others using the chant/mantra at the same time, there is a resonance that can easily dupe the uneducated into believing it has universal importance and can be used by particular leaderships to manipulate one or more people to agree with the idea and thus make them flexible to other considerations. If one's village is one's encompassing world that one is forced to abide with in terms of the leaders views, then of course actions and beliefs can be defined in Universal and thus god-like terms.
